1972 - Hong Kong kung fu films make a serious impact at local cinemas, starting in May with Bobby A. Suarez's The King Boxer starring Meng Fei. Local distributors include Kinavesa Films (Kim Y. Lim), Regal Films (Lily Y. Monteverde), Asia Films (Tommy Pascual), Jowell Films, Mirick. Most of these companies move into producing their own kung fu films as local or Hong Kong co-productions.
