Alberto Alonzo

A second-tier action star nurtured by Tagalog Ilang-Ilang Productions and featured prominently alongside their top actors Jess Lapid Sr, Tony Ferrer, Jun Aristorenas, Romeo Vasquez etc. Alonzo is best remembered as Agent 69, the first of a long line of Pinoy James Bond knock-offs (ten features and a TV series Target Agent, none of which have survived), often making a guest appearance in another spy series - Agent X-44, Agent 707 etc. On October 6th, 1967, Alonzo was gunned down and killed in a Baclaran nightclub. He was 23. Reporters gleefully noted the great Agent 69 had finally been "outmaneuvered".
